                    MELT Summer 2018

A three- person team ( Heather White, Patricia Constable, Carol Stevens) will travel to Malawi

On July 30th. During the 16 day trip many projects will be completed:

*Deliver on ABC Fluency Kit to each of the 30 

 Teachers in the MELT program.

*Hold a one-week professional training with the 

 Teachers following the Teacher’s Manual to 

 this kit.

*Visit each school and interview teachers to

 Hear first hand how the MELT 1 book mobile

 project is going. Each teacher will complete a


* Meet with Mzuzu Rotary concerning a


* Meet with local educational representatives.

MELT reaches over 2,000 children a year providing many children with their first opportunity to hold and read a book.  Following this model, we will reach over 10,000 children in the first five years!

On July 6 to July 25, 2018 Margot McGorman and Karen Ivings will travel to Malawi to work on several Women of Grace projects. Plans include training widows in the Panti Plus project, providing critical project supplies not available locally, distributing 200 + Panti Packs to local school girls, adding a solar battery so sewing can continue uninterrupted even during the rainy season, assessing the beekeeping project at Mzenga village, meeting with widows for feedback on the WOG program and discuss new directions.  Please PRAY for Traveling safety and teaching success!!!!!.

Hammond Presbyterian Church’s Memorial Pavilion will be the site of a luncheon for those taking part in the Museum’s Stone House Tour.

Lunch will be served from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm ( cost is $10.00 for tour and $5 for lunch) on Friday July 20, 2018 to those participating in the tour.

Hammond Presbyterian Church will be volunteering at the Scottish Festival at the Hammond Museum on July 21, 2018 from 10 am to 4 pm, which is celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Hammond’s first settlers. Activities will include bagpipers and Celtic music, highland games, photo booth with Scottish costumes, children’s games, crafts, dance , demonstrations, food and beverages and more.

Events will go throughout the day, leading up to 7:00 pm a Fire and Rescue Field Days Parade, led by the Brockville Pipe and Drum band. The firemen’s chicken barbeque will be held in the afternoon at the Fire Hall.

****On July 22 morning worship at 9:30 am will be a Scottish Heritage Service with a new banner unveiled and Scottish historical memorabilia in the chapel. Mark your calendar.

***On Saturday, July 28 Fish Fry in the Memorial Pavilion 4:30 to 7:00 pm and Sunday worship July 29 in the Sanctuary 9:30 am. A busy Month for Hammond Presbyterian Church. Season of Prayer and Reflection in the Korean Peninsula Begins this week till August 15, 2018.


 Madrid Scotch Presbyterian Church will be welcoming a new Pastor Rev. Richard Hinkle on July 8, 2018 moving from Marysville California.

Madrid Church is now looking for a rental house for 2 to3 months, they have 1 adult child.

1st Presbyterian Church on the park in Canton

Will have a Guest Preacher Rev. Vanessa Syvertsen, is a child of their congregation and received her Masters of Divinity Degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and is teaching downstate. She will be leading worship on July 29 and August 5, 2018.
